I was blessed recently to minister to the First Nations people of Alberta. In fact, the team that lead worship at the church I was speaking at were these people. I was amazed at the sound that came from their hearts. I heard their voices but also felt their prayers as they sang.
I went into a vision and saw the heaven’s bursting above their heads like the Northern lights as they worshipped their Lord and King. Heaven was dancing to the triumphant sound that was rising from these people’s voices. I saw many coloured lights dancing over their heads. As the team worshipped I could see angels dancing on their lips.
The First nations of North America have suffered much. They have high unemployment and many of them struggle with drugs and alcohol. The suicide rate among these people is very high, but I feel in my heart their is coming a renewal among them.
While I was among these people I saw a gateway open into the northern tribes. I saw God’s hand begin to move northward through their sounds and I believe there will be a great reaping of the Northern tribes as a result.
These people were known as gatherers and hunters and they shall become hunters and gathers for the Lord. They will catch t4he big fish of the North who are souls who will lead their people back into the arms of Christ.
When we are new in Christ we often put demands on our service to God. We will say things like “God I will serve you but I need to have the woman or man of my dreams first, or I need live in a certain city, with a certain income, in a certain job, in a certain house, with a certain number of children.
When we place demands like this on God we are actually living from a place of poverty. We don’t have an understanding of who we are in Christ. When we place want in any part of our relationship with God we will always come up lacking. God is not about satisfying our wants. He doesn’t feel compelled to help you to win the lottery or drive the nicest car.
What God wants is your heart and the right to be the driver of your life. He doesn’t want a set of conditions placed before him. He doesn’t want you to negotiate with him. He will give freely to you all the desires of your heart but this doesn’t come when you demand it but when you freely accept the journey that he has ordained for your life.
You cannot even begin to imagine that journey, so when you limit him through your desire and want you actually stop the world from becoming larger than what it has ever been in your life before. Some people settle with little when God would have given them much more.
A big house, a large company, with a juicy big bank account that allows you to travel somewhere warm each year can be as much poverty as having nothing at all.
I only began to have when I gave everything else up. I only started to be wealthy when I gave up my right to own anything.
Mark 10:29-30 says, And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
I am always amazed at how much God wants to give us the desires of our heart. You have to understand something about my life. I gave up the right to own anything a long time ago, but now I have more than I ever could have imagined having.
Two weeks ago I was sipping coffees next to the Mediterranean sea with people to marvellous to put into words, faces I only ever saw in magazines. Last week I was driving through the hills of Virginia and Pennsylvania with my wife and five children seeing miracles break out everywhere we went swimming in pools with my children every day. This week I will be in the Rocky Mountains driving a jeep to see the alpine meadows and glacier lakes. In all of these places I saw God move in glory touching lives deeply and many came to Christ. There were people healed, delivered and set free. I enjoyed the journey and saw God move in mighty ways at the same time.
When we say “yes” to God the journey is exciting. We begin to enjoy the greater things when we die to the lesser. When we die to the right to know or have control we gain the greatest freedom imaginable. We truly become free in Christ as we allow him to use us for his glory. I wouldn’t want to live any other way. This life is truly wonderful
I pray that God opens your heart to the journey and that you begin to rise above the wants of your life and enter the place of God granting your deepest desires. He knows you better than yourself. He will do great things with you only believe.

I'm starting to understand more and more all of the time the power of the cross. 1 Corinthians 1:23 says, "but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness." Many Christian instructors would try to put the cross to the side of their message in order to reach people in a way that is not threatening, but there is no reaching people unless we do preach the cross.
When I was younger and started to preach I was afraid to speak about the cross for fear that it would offend. However as I have gotten older I have learned that as I have preached the cross there's something that happens in the spirit over peoples lives. The power of the cross touches them in their core so that they have encounters at its mere mention.
The cross might be foolishness to some but I have come to know it as the power of God. When I consider the cross my life is changed. I can feel the power of the cross coursing through my life. I have gone into visions just considering it. I have gone into visions as I have seen it in churches. The cross is the most powerful thing known to man.
About four years ago signs and wonders started to follow my ministry in a real powerful way. It was very difficult in a way when this began because I could not find scriptures that actually spoke to the nature of the miracles that were taking place. As a man who loves the word of God this disturbed me so the only thing I knew to do was preach the cross more and more, and what I learned when I did this was that miracles began to take place even more because the cross is the reason for the miracles in the first place.
Paul said in 1 Corinthians 2:2, "For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified." Paul only preached Jesus Christ. His complete focus was on the son. The only reason he remained in the body was to reveal the son. As He preached there was a power that was going out in the spirit that really touched people in their core.
I don't have to apologize for the cross but only embrace it. As I embrace the message of the cross miracles begin to take place more abundantly.
I had a vision recently in which I saw the effect the name of Jesus and the power of the cross had on a person's life. I saw an open heaven over this person's life and as Jesus was mentioned more and more that open heaven got bigger and bigger. The sound of the cross over a person's life has the power to go deep into their heart and make lasting changes. Simply speaking the cross over someone has the power to bring them into an encounter with Christ because the cross is that powerful.
If Paul only claimed to know the cross and Christ crucified then why should we be any different. If the cross was good enough for the early church then the message should be good enough for us also. In the name of Jesus and through the power of the cross devils are cast out, people are healed, and lives are transformed for all eternity.
The cross is the only instrument of salvation known to mankind. It has been transforming lives for 2000 years. We do not have to justify the cross or try to preach a superior gospel. Modern man often thinks that he has the ability to make things stronger and better, but we need to remain simple and preach the simple truth that Jesus Christ is king. As we remain in simplicity to the message of Christ then we will experience great outpourings of the Holy Spirit.
If you are a preacher then I would challenge you to begin to preach in a simple way. Begin to declare Christ as king and Lord and declare his resurrection from the dead. Just declare over the people that the cross is the only power to transform them from the old dead man into the glorious new one. Teach them that by submitting their lives to the cross that the blessing of Christ will rise upon them.
And to those who are reading who may not know Christ, I would challenge you to submit your lives to him and let him move deep into your heart. By submitting to Christ the blessings of the cross will come upon you. You will enter into a brand new day and your life will be filled with his glorious peace no matter the challenges that come your way.
