Lately, I have been seeing the fire of God fall in meetings all across the land. There is a new intensity of the Glory that is being released in this season. There is an incredible expectation that God is about to do something, and that entire regions are about to be shifted into presence.
We have to live in the expectation that God can change a nation in a moment. This is the essence of Isaiah 66:8, where Isaiah asks rather rhetorically: “can God not do this?” We have to assume that the answer in scripture is “yes.” God can do whatever he wants, or he wouldn’t be God. He is sovereign in the way that he acts toward mankind. He knows the seasons that he has ordained for man. He knows the beginning from the end. He knows when to apply the pressure to bring man to their knees in repentance and back to him.
God’s fire is coming and he will change people in a moment. Acts 2 is a picture of how God can change a nation in a day. By a sovereign move of his spirit, there was an outpouring that affected all of time. People began to wander from that meeting - into the streets where they preached the gospel. Thousands came to Christ as a result. He will do this again.
In fact that outpouring is available to you in this very moment. All you have to do is ask Christ to come into your heart and believe that he is there. Then ask the Holy Spirit to fill you completely. Your life will never be the same again.
This is what happened to me. I remember he came when I was seeking God with all my heart many years ago. He filled me to overflowing. I didn’t even have the same fears after that experience. They were gone. I remember feeling liberated to do whatever I wanted to do. I started writing and painting like I never did before. Things shifted with the infilling of the Holy Spirit.
God wants to do this in your life as well. He wants to break the oppressions and anxieties that hold you to the old nature. Be ready to receive his spirit and when you do, you will never be the same again.
Psalm 127:1 - Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it.
There is another scripture in Ecclesiastes 11:1, which says: “Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days.”
Many years ago now (before I met my wife and before I had the five children that now live in my house), I had a dream. It was actually an encounter that I had with heaven. I walked through the gate of heaven, which understates the actual weight of that encounter; because I could take two paragraphs to describe it, since the glory surrounding it has to be witnessed to understand heaven’s door itself. But when I went through the door, I began to feel the amazement of heaven. There was pure joy in the air. I felt like a child who had just walked into the most amazing roller coaster park that ever existed, and I was going to ride everything for free.
There is much that I could share with you about that encounter, but today I want to focus on one store that I walked into: it was a Real Estate office. When I went through the door, I was terrified. I had this dream when I was about 33 years old. Up to that point in my life, I had never owned a house. My parents didn’t own a house. My dad built a house for us when we were young but because of divorce, we lost all of that when I was five years old.
There was a trauma on me as a result of this experience. There was a lie that was ingrained inside of me. I believed that I would never own a house and I believed that if I did, I would probably lose it. These lies kept me from trying to own one. What I needed was a renewal of the mind. I needed to hear God say that I was going to own a house.
When I walked through the door of that office, there was a big line-up and I was at the back of it. There were a couple of angels with me and they were pushing me forward toward the front desk. As we were inching closer I kept thinking, “What am I doing here? There is no way I can buy a house.” I was scared, I was anxious and I was far from belief.
When I got to the head of the line, an angel held up a picture for me to see. It was the house of my dreams – a house in the mountains and I was stunned. I said to the angel over and over – that is my house – that is my house - that is my house.
The angel gave me the picture and then told me, “Go plant it, it will grow.” I was bewildered by his words. I actually thought he wanted me to go out and plant a picture in the ground and it would grow. In fact not many days later I went into the woods with a picture of a house and planted it in the ground. It was a prophetic act declaring that I would receive what God intended me to receive.
The Lord was actually teaching me about seed time and harvest. In that moment, I knew that if I was faithful to sow as the Lord asked me, then the house that he had in store for me would come to pass. This was an invitation from the Lord to be obedient, and from obedience great blessing would come upon my life.
2 Corinthians 9:10 says: “Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.”
I believe that the man who builds his house upon the rock will experience blessings in the land of the living. God will bless you and increase you and make his face shine upon you. God wants to give you more than you are willing to receive. As you sow you should expect to reap. What would the point be of serving a God who was not able to abundantly take care of you? Abundance is in his very nature.
This year I am moving into a new house. This will be the third house that I have owned. The newest house is bigger and nicer than any house I have lived in before. We are having it built. I still don’t believe that this is the last house though. The house I saw in my dream will be mine one day. As I continue to do what God has called me to do, and sow as he has called me to sow, I know that house will come.
Numbers 23:19 says, ““God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”
When God speaks a thing, it will come to pass. When God opens a door for you, it will open. You just have to walk through it. Sometimes it takes great faith; because the door he wants you to walk through and that which He wants you to possess, might be greater than your natural ability to do. He is in charge and he will bring that to you which he wants you to have, but you will not be removed from your part of the exercise. When Joshua and Caleb entered the Promised Land, they had to march, they had to fight, and they had to face the giants and their fears; and yet, God strengthened them and they took possession of all that he had desired for them.
You can do the same thing. Seek God for the promises that he has for your life. May he open your eyes to see and your ears to hear what he has in store and may he strengthen your faith to enter into it.
God bless you all, Darren
I had a dream in the last three or four months. In it, I was with my pastor Mark Redner, and we were standing together in heaven. We were standing in a classroom and were with many people. I was very surprised to see Jesse James there since he was an outlaw who killed many people in the old west after the civil war.
In front of the room I said, “My pastor and I were in ministry together for 35 years and we saw between 30 and 35 million people come to Christ.” My pastor and I as of this year have been together for 13 years. This dream took place 22 years into the future. As it turns out both the number 35 and 22 are significant prophetically.
The Prophet Bob Jones had a vision of Thirty Five Apostles likened unto the Apostle Paul. I thought I would share his vision with you so that you get an understanding of the picture I believe the Holy Spirit is painting in this hour:
"The Holy Spirit took me to a place - this time it wasn't the Lord who took me, it was the Holy Spirit. He took me to a place and I saw the Lord, high and lifted up, by some young men and he set upon them the golden ark...and I looked and there were men that had hold of the ark and they had the ark upon their shoulders. And the government will be upon their single shoulders." They will reign and reveal to the world that they truly are the faithful and true leaders and the government that will be upon his single shoulder." Mike Bickle comments, "I think there'll be 35 like unto Paul...There would be 35 whom the Lord would separate in the highest way. The government rests on apostles and prophets.”
The Number 35 is linked here to an apostolic age when super apostles, who walk in governmental authority like Paul, will walk the earth again. And in my vision the number 35 was linked to many salvations. I believe that God is in the process of raising up many of these apostles to usher in an incredible harvest of souls in the earth and they will walk in great power and character.
To me the question becomes “WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR THESE TO BE LIKE PAUL?”
If you consider the Apostle Paul for a moment, he was a man consumed with doing the will of God. He had a revelation of Christ on the road to Damascus that set him apart. After the vision he was like a man possessed with purpose. He walked to the ends of the earth and faced all kinds of hardships and sufferings in order to get the gospel preached in and to many nations. He walked in signs and wonders that changed regions. His name was linked to power evangelism. The demons of hell knew him by name. He saw deliverance, healings and resurrections in the name of Jesus. As a result of his ministry the entire Mediterranean region was touched by Jesus. Churches remain there to this day. Old religions that held people in bondage were dismantled, and Christ began to reign. He walked in the government of the Kingdom with power displays following him like fireworks.
We are about to see the release of a new apostolic grace where power follows people consumed by Jesus Christ. They will walk in amazing signs and wonders; and thousands will be saved by Christ through their lives. They will forget the advantages of this world for the advantages of the Kingdom. They will know their savior and share in his sufferings but they will also be marked by his love, his joy and his peace.
I also believe that a major part of this apostolic grace is also about the networks that these individuals will develop. Many people will begin to partner with those that are walking in this grace. Many individuals within these networks will begin to operate with the same power and character as they partner with that network.
Moreover, according to my dream, the people that will get saved are right now from the most extreme places. God’s power is going to be released upon all flesh. People who are consumed in sinful lifestyles as outlined by scripture and the Ten Commandments, will begin to repent and seek God with all of their hearts. Some of them will become radical servants of the Most High God; leading hundreds and thousands to the Lord themselves. They will be mighty ones for the Lord.
Get ready for this new hour to begin. I believe it starts this year and will go for on the next 22. The Lord has been highlighting the number 22 to me. In the dream with my pastor, the action was taking place 22 years in the future. Also everywhere I look this past two months I keep seeing 22. I have seen it so much that you know God saying something.
The number 22 was also very significant to Bob Jones. Isaiah 22:22 is about the release of the keys for opening and shutting things on a governmental level in the spirit. Bob Jones saw the 35 Apostles carrying the government on their shoulders. They will have great authority in the spirit realm. The enemy will know them by name.
I believe that over the next 22 years, we are going to see the power of the Holy Spirit released in an unprecedented way. There will be great apostolic authority to pull down strongholds over nations because of the supernatural grace that will be released wherever these ones, that God is raising up, will walk.
22 is also the number of the almond blossoms on the Menorah, which is the candlestick that was used to illuminate the Torah scroll in the Tabernacle of meeting. It symbolically represented the divine light illuminating the word of God for men. The menorah is also a depiction of the Holiness of God. The Light moves out from it and touches all that come near it. The divine light enters into the heart of men from the word changing them from the inside out. It is a picture of God’s Holiness.
The word is going to go out in power in this new apostolic age. God is going to arrest the hearts of broken humanity. They will be filled with his divine light which will grant them new peace, joy and wisdom for the path that he has set forth for them to walk. We are going to see many touched by the power of God, so get ready for a new sound to be released.
This is not a new gospel. This is the gospel of Jesus Christ being released to the masses who have tried everything but God. In this hour, they are going to turn to the gospel of peace and they will be changed from the inside out. As I write this I am declaring it into the earth. Get ready!
Recently, the Lord has been speaking to me about a Great Lakes Revival. We heard this when we were recently ministering in Niagara Falls, which was in late March. My friend Ben Johnston, a young prophet from Montreal, saw a a portal between America and Canada in the form of a giant circle. He said he could see revival breaking out in America, and angels were coming over to the Canadian side to release a new measure of righteousness as it has risen in the United States. When he saw this, he began to declare that this was the season of the Great Lakes revival.
I have friends in Rochester, New York – Patrick and Susan O’Marra. They have been prophesying for almost twenty years that a great revival was to come to Rochester and upstate New York. I was with them recently and we felt a tremendous anointing as we began to declare the Great Lakes Revival.
The Prophet Bob Jones (who is now deceased) once described the coming of the Great Lakes Revival. He called it the four cities revival. He said that God was going to move in Toronto, Rochester, Hamilton and Buffalo. He said that a fire would start in each city, and once each was lit, a new revival would begin to spread to every connecting state nearby. This is the revival that we are believing for , and it is beginning in this hour.
My friend Joe Garcia had revival breakout last year in his church in Hamilton, Ontario. Many thousands were touched by the power of God that was released during those days last summer. The revival spread to many places around and was seen all over the world.
The Lord is releasing an angel army in this season. They are the reapers that will bring in the harvest in the Great Lakes Region (Revelation 14:15). Recently I was in Texas and had a vision of a General that was releasing the angels into that region for Revival. There has been a revival taking place there for about six weeks. The revival broke out after many prophets began to declare revival in that state.
A few years ago, I had a vision of revival breaking out all over North America. I saw a map in front of me. I saw God’s hand touch the different cities and when they did, a fire would start. Then the enemy would come and snuff out the revival. Then God would touch the map again, and another fire would start, and the enemy would come again and snuff it again. This occurred over and over again. Eventually God’s hand began to move really quickly and hundreds of fires were burning. The enemy tried to snuff everyone of them out but eventually he could not keep up with what God was doing and the fire consumed the entire map of North America. We are about to see more fires burn in this season.
When I was in the Rochester region, I heard of two revivals that broke out in the last month. They were both in upstate New York. One revival broke out in the Wolcott, NY area when a revivalist from Australia called Glenn Maloney, came preaching. He started in a small church that could fit forty or fifty people. The first night it was packed out. They realised that they would need a bigger place, so they found a local Methodist church that opened its doors to them. The next night there were over 200 people present for the meetings. Many were delivered and healed. This lasted ten days.
Around the same time, only an hour and a half away from that location, a revivalist from Hawaii called Rich Vera, held meetings near Rochester, New York. The Holy Spirit began to move powerfully and meetings were extended for some time. There were a couple of hundred present each night in these meetings.
God is doing something! He is stirring the waters of revival. I believe this is just the beginning and that you will hear more stirrings taking place over the next little while. People with and without reputation are going to see God move in power as they step into that region by faith. God is going to open the heavens and it will rain supernatural rain. The first night that I was preaching on the last trip to Upstate New York, it rained so hard that we knew that God was saying something through it. Get ready for a new level of glory to be released. I pray that you will join me in declaring a powerful revival in this region.
This is the very same region where a couple hundred years ago Charles Finney preached. He saw an amazing revival released – 100,000 alone were saved in Rochester. The revival swept hundreds of thousands into the Kingdom and has become known as the Second Great Awakening when Christian values became American values; when the working man was encouraged to be born again and work hard for his country and family.
God is going to do it again. God is going to bring salvation into the earth. He is going to arrest the people and show them how he is a God of blessing.
I believe we are going to see more revivals; and my eyes are on Toronto and Buffalo. I would encourage ministers to begin to enter into these cities and preach the Kingdom of God. I encourage you to believe God for great things. Something is happening and those that believe will see great and mighty things. I believe if you are reading this you are a part of what God is doing in this hour. So I pray that fire begins to enter into your life and spreads from place to place.
Sometimes when the Lord speaks, it can be very loud. He will say the same thing over and over again, and even if you don’t understand what is being said, he doesn’t mind. Recently, I kept seeing 22 everywhere I looked. Every time I checked my cell phone it was either 1:22, 2:22 or 9:22. I would see 22 on licence plates. We parked in section 22 of a parking lot at a mall. And 22 was flashing in a lottery sign. Apparently you could win 22 million this weekend (as I wrote this in mid-June).
I was at one church and the pastor was trying to raise money for renovating his church building. He had 200 envelopes on the wall. The number on the envelope was what you were encouraged to sow. He said, “If it is 22 you should sow $22 and if it is $122 then sow $122.
So when this starts to happen, I begin to ask God what he is trying to say. I was on Facebook last week and Todd Bentley had a live broadcast that he titled “double double.” In Canada, a double-double is a way to order a coffee. Tim Hortons Café is our national chain of coffee shops. When you drive up to it and ask for a double-double they know exactly what you want. It is a coffee with two creams and two sugars.
But Todd said that this was a season of the double blessing. This registered to me, and I felt this was the interpretation of what God was saying to me. I wrote on my Facebook wall that this was the season of double blessing and noted the appearance of 22. A lady wrote me and said “Darren did you know that this is considered a year of Double Jubilee?” I had forgotten this in fact.
A Jewish Prophet named Rabbi Judah Ben Samuel prophesied 800 years ago this year that the Turks would gain control of the Middle East and Jerusalem, and that they would assume power in the land of Palestine and Jerusalem for eight Jubilees[i]. Then he said there would be a ninth Jubilee and Israel would become a no man’s land for one Jubilee and then in the tenth Jubilee Israel would enter into the Messianic age.
His prediction of the Turk rule of that region was 300 years before the Ottomans entered their rule and it lasted for eight Jubilees (or 400 years) as he predicted. When the British liberated Palestine in 1917, Jerusalem remained in an area that became known as “No-Man’s land.” It wasn’t until the Six Day War (when Israel was attacked by its neighbours) that Israel came into position of the city of Israel (Jerusalem). This just happened to fall on the same Jubilee as predicted by Ben Judah.
2017 represents the second Jubilee from Turk rule. It is now 50 years this year from the time that Jerusalem has been back under Israel’s rule. I am not sure what to expect this year, but for Rabbi Judah this was the beginning of the Messianic age. One way or the other something special is happening starting now.
This double Jubilee means a great deal to those that understand Jubilee. Jubilee was the time in Israel when slaves were set free, and all Israel citizens returned to their ancestral lands. It was a time of liberation. So we should expect a new level of liberation in the lives of the people of God this year. There is something doubling in the atmosphere. A “double inheritance” coming. The Lord is going to reveal himself in a new way.
I am not sure what this will mean for your life. I would encourage you to seek God and listen to him. Obey his voice when he speaks to you. He is going to lead you into the many promises that he has in store. I believe that many of you will increase in properties, in positions of authority. Some of you will gain new voices in media and social media. Some of you will begin to be fathers and mothers. Others will become respected leaders in the church, in government and in society. God is going to make you the head and not the tail. You are going to be blessed in the country and in the city. Favor will be the mark of your life. This is a new day. Get ready for new things to come.

2 Corinthians 3:18 tells us, "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are
changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord."
The Lord has been speaking to me lately about upgrades. Recently, I was sitting in an airport lounge waiting for my flight to leave, when the airline staff called me over the PA to come forward to the desk. I have rarely ever had such a thing happen in my life, so I didn’t know what to expect.
When I got to the desk, the attendant told me, “I am upgrading you to business class. We are giving you a seat at the front of the plane.” This was the very first time that has ever happened to me; and I fly about thirty times a year all over the world. The seat was awesome! I had more leg room than normal for my three hour flight.
Sometimes, when the Lord works on our life, it can seem like change takes forever to come; and then there are times when unexpected changes do come. You go from the back seat to the front seat in a moment. You go from having no room to more room. This happens in every Christian life. As you continue in the Lord, you mature in the things of the Spirit. It is by his grace we are saved, through faith. As our faith is activated, more and more the things of this world grow strangely dim and we become stronger.
The upgrades in our life are all spiritual. God is the one that opens the doors that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). He knows who you are. He knows what he has in store for you to do, and he knows the timetable in which you will do it.
The unexpected upgrades come after testing - after the fire. We are all being molded into the image of our creator. He is refining our characters, so that we can enter into the greatest destinies for our lives. He is the potter and we are the clay (Isaiah 64:8). I declare that you are being strengthened in this hour: for what God has in store for you. I declare that you are about to pass the test, and that you are going to enter into the gate that God has for you in the next season. Your upgrade is coming.
Some of you have passed the test, and you are about to receive promotions in your jobs. Others are about to pass the test and get new jobs, new houses and even spouses for the glory of the Lord. Those who have been seeking him with all their hearts are about to pass the test. You are about to enter into a season of great fulfillment in him.
I declare that you haven’t even seen the beginning yet, let alone the end. God is ordaining a new day for your life. You are going to go to places you have never seen; and when you are there, you are going to encounter the living God. Some of you are about to see in new ways. Some of you are about to hear God speak for the first time. Others are about to experience angelic encounters. Others are about to be blessed in ways they could never even imagine.
I see doors even opening to nations for some of you. People are about to hear your name. They are about to favour you, and bring you to places to hear about what God has done in your life.
For others, there are business ideas that are about to be hatched that will bring you great favour. Even banks and investors are going to look at you differently. You will be sought after for what God is doing in your life.
Your greatest hour of creativity is upon you. You are about to excel in ways you always dreamed but never dared imagined would take place. All this is by the favour and spirit of God working through your life. So get ready for your upgrade. Get ready for your brand new day. God is with you and he will lead you into the new frontier that is waiting just for you.
Mountains by Sharon Quike - Spring Thaw at Toby Creek
I was recently in Colorado, and saw the most pristine mountains. There was still snow high up in the peaks. There was a late snow this year and although it was late in May there was still much evidence of winter’s grip on the land.
This picture sits inside of me as I consider the current political landscape of the United States. Although there was a change of seasons that took place when President Trump came to power, there still seems to be a grip of winter on the land. Although by now, we would expect to see the flowers blooming and the trees budding, the last season is trying to hold on a little longer.
In a dream a few nights ago, I saw President Trump. He was next to a person who I would describe as a working class man. This man with the President had not seen wealth in a long time. Suddenly I saw his hand fill up with pieces of gold. Wealth started coming into his life again.
The United States is about to see a new boom in its economy, and it will be greater than what we saw during the Obama years. If you remember the dishonor that President Obama showed toward Israel, it is no surprise the people of the USA were struggling the way that they were. The polar was seen recently when President Trump was seen saying a prayer at the Wailing Wall, and meeting and honoring the President of Israel. Something has changed in America. God is going to bless it again.
I would never argue that President Trump is a saint. We all know that he isn’t. But it doesn’t take a saint to change a nation. It takes a man who recognizes his weakness and who begins to seek God again.
I believe God sees the steps that this president has taken. He sees his heart to honor the people of Israel. He sees Mr. Trumps desire to honor those whom God commands us to bless. On the contrary the years that Obama ran the nation were truly frightening from a Christian’s point of view. When you read a passage like Genesis 12:3 which says, “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you," then how Obama reacted to this nation and honored her enemies’ more than her was truly staggering.
Mr. Trump has also taken steps to strengthen the rights of ministers and Christians. He recently signed an executive order that allows religious organizations in the United States broader exemptions in political speech. Each step he is taking strengthens the voice of Christians in America; and I feel also in Western nations. Even though we in Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom are not represented by this man, we feel strengthened by the steps that he is taking.
Although Trump is unrefined in many ways, he has showed that he has a heart to humble himself before God. He is a proud man who often says terrible things but still shows an ability to humble himself before God. He has said a lot of things that have gotten him into trouble and yet he still somehow finds time to pray.
The winter snow that still lurks in America, is the unabashed evil of the Politically Correct philosophy of this time. The people who uphold the philosophy of Political Correctness have no real sense of God’s law or his purity. They call good evil and evil good. I actually find it amazing how these people call everything that Christians stand for, evil. I find it strange how they honor sin above God’s purity. It is truly a time when Elijah and Jezebel are at war. The prophets of evil seem to be strong but there is a change coming. God will not allow them to reign forever. He is raising up a standard against apostasy and will be glorified in the USA again.
Something is about to shift. The enemy will try to play his hand, but as usual it will be too strong. He will overplay his role and he will come crashing down. Jesus will be honored and the law of sin and death will be exposed for what it is – sin and death.
The snows are about to thaw, and Christ is about to be honored again. You will see during the reign of Donald Trump as President the blessing return to the land again. Gold will be found in the lives of the common people – those that work hard for a living. This will be a sign that what Trump did to honor Israel and to strengthen the church was truly divine. He and the people of America will be blessed because he blessed the people that God calls his very own.
The snow is melting, and summer is coming; and you know what happens when the waters rush from the mountain top. There is overflow. The lands are nourished by the sweet waters. The Holy Spirit is coming in a new way in this hour. He is going to touch the people again. Those that have been gripped by evil will see his truth and the truth will set them free. They will ride the tides of salvation into the gates everlasting life and blessing.
One time I was at a Starbucks coffee shop in the South End of Ottawa, Canada. I have a fondness for reading books and drinking coffee and so in those days I often found myself at the Chapters bookstore where a Starbucks was attached. For my American friends, Chapters is much like an Indigo bookstore.
I was actually on my way to work this day. I had been in training for my job all morning and had to work that evening. This was my only window to myself that day. By the end of that long day I would be away from home for about 16 hours. So this window at Starbucks was the only time of day that I would be alone.
Anyway, as I was at this Starbucks, I noticed a woman in the line next to me. She looked rather anxious and panicky. She kept standing closer to me and I kept moving a little further away. She reminded me of a close friend that I had before I knew the Lord when I worked for the Auditor General of Canada named Francois. He was from Montreal. He and I would go outside for cigarettes during our break. Francois was one of them ‘close talkers’ who always stepped into your personal space. I would back up and he would come close again. By the time we finished a cigarette it was like we had danced with each other all over that street.
Anyway this woman was exhibiting the same traits as Francois. She would come near and I would move away. She would come near again and I would move away again. By the time I got my coffee and sandwich I was very happy because I felt that I had escaped her presence. But the next thing you know, the same waltz started all over again when we got to the condiments stand where the cream and sugar are located. Again she would come too near and I would move away. She would come near again and I would move away again. So finally I got everything prepared the way I wanted with my coffee and I saw that the big leather chair was open at the front of the store.
I started to move quickly because it isn’t too often that you get that big cozy chair. But then I look over my shoulder and I see that same woman was moving quickly in the same direction, and just in case she was thinking about that chair I began to move very fast like a canoeist paddling a strong Canadian river rapid. I weaved in and out of the people in the store, moving chairs out of the way toward my desired goal. As I got close to the chair I lunged over the top of it and landed squarely into its padded cushion. That woman was just as persistent though. She paddled right behind me weaved her way through the same two or three people and pushed chairs out of her way. She plummeted into the seat just opposite of me and did it all with the politest of vigour.
I settled into my seat and opened my sandwich and began to eat – a very nice sandwich with plenty of meat and veggies. As I was sitting there a little child walked up to the side of my chair and looked me straight in the eyes. He was the cutest thing. It struck me that this young man had no shame at all and that he was completely filled with innocence. I looked at his father and the woman in the chair beside me and I said, “Oh to be like a little child and to have the innocence to be able to look each other straight in the eyes.” The woman across from me nodded in agreement, and said that would indeed be wonderful, and then she mentioned that she was having such a terrible day. She sighed deeply as her eyes peered into mine hinting that she would like to have a conversation with me. At this point, I rightly discerned that this woman and I were divinely appointed to have a conversation about God, so I said to God, “I will talk to her but I am finishing this sandwich first!”
For the next five minutes I sat silently eating my sandwich. I realise that for some of you that this may seem a little cold hearted, but I was very confident that the conversation would continue once I ate my sandwich. After I was finished I said, “Ok God I am ready to go.” I looked over at the woman who for the last five minutes kept looking toward me with these great big puppy dog eyes. So I made some idle chit-chat and the next thing you know we were in the middle of a conversation. It doesn’t matter how a conversation begins because God always has a way of moving that conversation toward him. Just think of the story of the woman at the well. Jesus started it by asking her for a drink and before you know, it she is jumping out of her skin in excitement and leading many people to the Lord.
After a few minutes I mention to her that I am a minister. She tells me how she also was a Christian belonging to the Seventh Day Adventist Church. When she found out that I was a Charismatic she was thrown off a little. She asked if our church spoke in tongues. I said, “Yeah we do a bit.” Little did I know what awaited her and I in the near future. I then began to prophesy over her. I said that she had gone through some hard times and was living currently under a lot of heaviness, and that she was a little depressed and anxious. She then began to tell me how she had lived a number of years in a dark state and that she had been diagnosed with a depression and anxiety disorder. She found it difficult to snap out of darkness.
She mentioned how she and her husband were financially sound, but that she did not have a passion for life anymore. I told her that God was going to change her life, and that he had a plan for her. I mentioned how we had a healing service at our church on Friday evenings that might interest her. I wrote down my email address and the directions to the church. She had gotten a lot of peace from the conversation, but truthfully I thought that would be the last I’d see of her. On Friday evening I got to the healing service in Kinburn five minutes before the service. I was much later than usual. There was a car in the parking lot that I didn’t recognize. When I got out of my car the woman from Starbucks started to run toward me. I was with my mother at the time and I tried to quickly explain to her who this woman was running toward us.
You have to understand that while this woman was sensing the Holy Spirit she wasn’t what you would call a fired-up-born-againspirit- filled believer. She had sensed the Holy Spirit at the coffee shop and was hungry for more. She could not have come to a more charismatic tongue filled service. That evening Pastor Mark had given the service over to another gentleman who had decided that for the entire evening – 3 hours – we were going to pray in tongues. So as we walked through the door of the church we were met with a flood of voices praying in tongues pouring out of the sanctuary like waves upon a shore. I thought to myself, “Oh no, of all evenings for this Seventh Day Adventist lady to show up.” She looked at me with some alarm as I probably did her. She sat with my mother who tried to console her, but I felt prompted to walk to the front of the church to pray. I joined in the orchestra of tongues in that place as I began to pray out in the spirit. Now and then I would open one eye to peer back at the woman who looked as if there were a barrel of anxiety all over her.
After a few minutes of this she jumped up and began to run toward the back door. The Lord specifically told me to turn my back to her as she ran out of the church. This seemed like a strange thing for God to say but I obeyed and did what I heard to do. Before long she walked back into the church and sat down with my mother again. But after about ten more minutes she jumped up and ran toward the back door again. This time I went out after her as did my mother and Pastor Mark. We intercepted her in the lobby of the little church. She began to tell me that she had to go because there was something very important that she had to do. This was sort of funny to hear because she had driven for almost an hour to get to the service and now something very important had come up after only 20 minutes that she needed to leave for. The people in the sanctuary on hearing what was occurring in the lobby began to raise the volume on their praying in tongues. It was coming out of the doors in bellows now. More people flowed into the church and passed us as we were with this woman. They would open the door to go into the sanctuary and as they did a roar of tongues came pouring through the open doors. I kept thinking “of all nights, dear Lord, of all nights.”
Pastor Mark, my mother and I began to minister to the woman. We talked with her for about 20 minutes, and then we asked her if we could pray with her. She said that we could, and then she fell to the floor on her knees, and raised her hands toward heaven and prayed a prayer for God to come close to her life again. Tears streamed from her eyes as she prayed that prayer. It was such a holy moment to be a part of. The presence of the Holy Spirit was intense in this room. After the prayer she got up off of the floor and left the church. I have never seen her again, nor do I remember her name. But that dear woman is a real treasure to me. I will not forget her and I hope to meet her again one day, if not here on earth, then certainly on eternity’s shores.
God’s voice can be heard for others in many ways. In the example above I understood that God had something to say to this woman simply because he placed her in close proximity to me and opened a door for communication. One of the assumptions that I live under is that God brings people near me to be ministered too. When you live with this way then every new encounter becomes a potential God encounter.
Psalm 31:15 says, “My times are in your hands.” Every moment becomes a God moment. When you live like this every new person becomes someone that God has brought your way to hear about him – somebody to be delivered, healed, prophesied into and set free. Because I live this way I look at each new person as a puzzle to be unlocked for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Some puzzles are more difficult than others, but they all have a solution.

17 Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
In this prayer of Habakkuk, we see the prophet declaring the destruction of Israel at the hand of the Babylonian horde. As he prays he recognizes the great hand of God in bringing about the destruction as a judgment against his nation, but he also asks God
for mercy in times of wrath.
He understands that the invasion will result in reverberations for his people and that they may experience lack, but he is thankful nonetheless for the goodness of God. I have experienced lack in my life and I have had family members experience lack in their lives. It is truly not an experience that comes easy, but learning to rejoice even in the place of lack will get you through many a wild storm in life.
One of my family members went through a severe trial with lack recently. She ended up having to go on welfare because she could not get a job adequate for taking care of her life. It was one of the deepest trials she has ever faced. For me it was also difficult because of the helplessness I felt in not being able to help her. She had monthly bills and a house that she owned that just would not sale. She could not afford to pay the mortgage and she couldn’t get rid of the house. But in the midst of all of that she kept crying out to God and indeed got much closer to the Lord as a result.
You see in the hour of our storms that running from God will not help us to overcome. We must always be aware that God is our shelter even in the greatest storms. Nothing can overwhelm us for long as we remain in him. Job faced great trials and wrestled for
understanding as to why such things were occurring, but in the end it was God that saw him through his trials and blessed him even more than he had been blessed before.
I sense there are coming times of lack in our culture where some of the things that we take for granted right now – like food, water, shelter and money – may not come easy for some. I sense that a collapse of the economy is coming and that many will be in the position that my family member is in currently. We must prepare our hearts and learn to rejoice in the midst of dire times. Such peace will come over you and such wonder as God provides for you and warms you very heart. God will lavish his love toward you as you go through these times. I know because this is what I have experienced in my own life and what I have witnessed in the lives of others who are totally sold out to God.
May God bless you and keep you through all your storms.

Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Seeking God in all things, and obeying his voice, is key to all sorts of blessings in one’s life. Some say that we shouldn’t seek God for his blessings, but why in the world would you ever want to serve a God that didn’t bless you? He is a good father who gives good gifts to his children (Matthew 7:11).
His greatest gift is his very presence: His peace in my heart during trials; His peace when anxiety tries to linger; His joy inside strengthening me during every storm. These are the greatest gifts I have received.
I recently drove a jeep through Wyoming, while looking at hundreds of kilometers of untouched landscape. In those moments of solitude with my God, I felt his joy strong inside of me. It was like I was on an adventure with just him and me. I knew he was pleased with me, because I was filled with his presence in a very powerful way. Moments like these make you want to worship him.
There is such joy that comes upon our lives when we lay it down for him. I have said this many times to people. The cost of serving God is nothing compared to the award. I love the passage that says, "Truly I tell you," Jesus replied, "no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields--along with persecutions--and in the age to come eternal life (Mark 10:29-30).
This is my experience. My life has come into agreement with this passage in the Gospel of Mark. In Wyoming I was a foreigner to that land, but the people received me as if I was their son. I sat in my friend’s house one morning, looking out the window at the most scenic view of mountains and rolling hills I have ever seen. The Lord knows how much I love views like that. In moments like these, the cost doesn’t seem too high.
We do go through persecution as Christians, but these are nothing compared to the inescapable riches of Christ. As you set your heart on him, he fills it in the most joyous ways.
I have also seen God extend my family with many children. My quiver is indeed full. When I tell people that I have seven children I never have to hang my head in shame. People may not desire this for their own life, but most realise that it is a special thing to have so many. God is the one who has done this. He has built my house and filled it with children.
In my early life when I didn’t serve Jesus Christ, my life was filled with much disappointment. It seems like an ancient memory now, but I remember times when I lacked fulfillment in my life. I remember back then: days that I looked forward to for months would pass by, and I would wonder why I looked forward to them. Many days I lived in disappointment and sadness.
It was only when Jesus came into my life that I began to truly live: The blessings of wife, children and home; The blessings of food in my cupboard; The blessings of friends from many nations. I have seen God bless me and then bless me again. What he has given me would have taken me many life times to have earned, and then I probably would have lost it anyway. The restoration that has come to my life is truly something only God could have done.
Truly I have labored in the Lord, but it has not been in vain. He has made my ways fruitful and he will make your ways fruitful as well.
You might feel like your life is in ruin. Perhaps you are older and you think nothing good could come from your life. I tell you the truth, just give your entire life to Jesus and watch what he can do! He can resurrect the dead. He can open your heart up to everything that he has in store for you.
Renounce your past, and every evil thing that comes against our God. Even well-meaning Christians have things they need to let go of. As you do, you will be filled with his presence in ways you can only experience if you let go.
I pray for you to have courage today. I pray that God helps you to see the way forward and strengthens you to enter into that way. You will not be disappointed with our God. He builds and does not destroy. He has an eternal house waiting for you.
